The Events and Development Manager will lead and host fundraising events while working with the Director of Development on executing the Cat Care Society development plan. This role will not only lead the planning and production of our biennial Paws on the Green Golf Tournament and our Tails of the Painted Cats Gala, but also smaller community events. This role works collaboratively across the organization.

About CCS: Cat Care Society is a limited-admission non-profit cat shelter located in Lakewood, Colo., that was founded in 1981. Throughout our 40-plus year history, we've worked to provide adoption services and life-saving medical treatment to cats in need in Colorado while providing community engagement to people who love cats. Our unique and free-roaming approach views all cats as worthy; none are too old or ill to be valued, loved and treated with dignity.

Role Responsibilities:

Events

  • Plan, schedule, lead, attend and execute all fundraising events
  • Engage with, train, direct, manage and thank staff and volunteers that help with events
  • Assist with developing fundraising plans and event budgets designed to achieve growth year over year
  • Seeks underwriting, in-kind donations and auction items for assigned events and other chapter events as needed
  • Collect and manage all donations and purchases made at events
  • Conduct site visits, review contracts, negotiate rates, etc., to ensure cost savings
  • Research and identify new events to attend
  • Support the Director of Philanthropy and Director of Communications in proposing innovative and creative new ideas to raise awareness and funds for CCS through events
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Marketing Coordinator on marketing strategies for events
  • Create and maintain a master events calendar for internal and external communications
  • Maintain budgets and prepare reports
  • Accountable for revenue of assigned events
  • Anticipate event needs, establish workflow and priorities, meet deadlines and goals
  • Load, unload, set up, take down and clean up for each event
  • Maintain all event supplies in an orderly fashion

Development

  • Engage active donors with acknowledgement and updates on the impact of our work, developing and maintaining close relationships
  • Record and track communication with and notes about donors in donor database
  • Prospect and research new organizational donors, sponsors, corporations and philanthropists
  • Collect, give receipts, secure and deliver cash and check donations immediately and directly to Bookkeeper
  • Take and appropriately account for credit card donations electronically via Square
  • Receive, inventory and stock in-kind donations
  • Thank and acknowledge donors for in-kind donations

Internal Collaborations

  • Collaborate with Board of Directors and event committees
  • Collaborate with the Marcomm to promote events to external communities – i.e. marketing materials, flyers, signage, social media, advertising, outreach events
  • Assist the Marcomm team with branded merch needed for events or Meow Mart
  • Assist and shadow Art Director/Art Coordinator to learn Tails of the Painted Cats Gala
  • Plan Paws on the Green with committee and execute golf tournament
  • Collaborate with Shelter Manager(s) to schedule usage of shelter space events and to schedule kittens or cats to attend events
  • Interact with Bookkeeper to keep track of budget, invoices, etc.
  • Support the staff and board with ideas and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan

General

  • Represent Cat Care Society well with enthusiasm and professionalism
  • Ability to work in a team environment while operating independently with minimal supervision
  • Act as a role model for employees and volunteers
  • Follow all policies, procedures and protocols

Qualifications:

  • Passionate about the vision and mission of Cat Care Society
  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in non-profit, outreach, community relations, fundraising, development, marketing, public relations, and/or social media
  • Minimum of 1 year in event logistics and production as either a lead or support
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation required

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and  2-4 years related non-profit work experience
  • Animal shelter, animal welfare, animal handling – not required, but a plus

Schedule

  • Varies based on event schedule, must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed
