The Opportunity:
The “Financial Aid Specialist” works with prospective students and continuing students in a personalized way to assist with the financial aid application process, eligibility, documentation, disbursement and federal/state policies of receiving financial aid. This is a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient financial aid process for our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with our third-party servicer and the Department of Education to facilitate and manage all aspects of the financial aid process.
- Guide students through the financial aid process, ensuring timely completion of required documentation.
- Track student financial aid deadlines, follow up on missing documents, and provide clear communication regarding due dates.
- Be proactive in enforcing deadlines; if students fail to submit required documentation in a timely manner, the Financial Aid Specialist will be responsible for placing students on a leave of absence until compliance is met. Our software aids the students in this process.
- Maintain and manage financial aid information using Google Sheets and Excel, ensuring data accuracy and organization.
- Provide support to students with questions related to financial aid options and help them understand their financial responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- 2 years’ experience working in financial aid with Title IV and FAFSA required.
- Experience in federal and institutional need analysis with the ability to interpret and analyze income and assets.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Google Sheets, Docs and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial deadlines clearly and effectively to students.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with students, third-party servicers, and staff.Comfortable enforcing financial policies and procedures, including implementing leave of absence protocols for non-compliance.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting pay from $23.00 per hour based on experience.
- First performance review after 6 months with the potential for pay adjustments based on performance.
